10 Instructor Obtain tubing from an instructor. *  
20 Lathe If chuck size will allow, lightly chuck internally using a three jaw chuck. If chuck size will not allow internal chucking, lightly chuck externally using a three jaw chuck.
40 Lathe Install the internal cat head. Leave enough space to indicate the inside diameter of the tube.
50 Lathe Bring up the dead center near the cat head. Visually center the cat head to the dead center.
60 Lathe Bring the tailstock spindle into position and lock in place.
70 Lathe Indicate the inside diameter of the tube as close as possible.
80 Lathe Set up tooling to turn a concentric bearing surface approx 3-4 inches from the right end of the tube.
90 Lathe Tighten the chuck, be careful not to use excessive chuck pressure. This will cause the tube to distort.
100 Lathe Check for distortion using an indicator on the chucked end of the tube.
11 Instructor Have an instructor check setup. *  
120 Lathe Turn bearing surface just enough to clean up.
130 Lathe Face end to clean up.
140 Lathe Pull the tailstock back.
150 Lathe Run the saddle toward the tailstock to get it out of the way.
160 Lathe Position the steady rest at the bearing surface.
170 Lathe Bring the tailstock spindle back into position and lock in place.
180 Lathe Adjust the lower jaws of the steady rest to the bearing surface of the tubing and lock in place.
190 Lathe Bring the upper arm down and lock in place.
200 Lathe Adjust the upper jaw of the steady rest to the bearing surface of the tubing and lock in place.
210 Lathe Carefully remove the cat head.
220 Lathe Set up lathe for boring.
230 Instructor Have instructor check setup. *  
240 Lathe Bore to specifications.
250 Lathe Deburr machined end.
260 Lathe Remove tubing from the machine.
270 Lathe Back off steady rest Jaws and remove the steady rest from the machine.
280 Lathe Place anti-distortion plug in the machined end of tubing.
290 Lathe Tighten the chuck, be careful not to use excessive chuck pressure.
300 Lathe Install the internal cat head. Leave enough space to indicate the inside diameter of the tube.
310 Lathe Bring up the dead center near the cat head. Visually center the cat head to the dead center.
320 Lathe Bring the tailstock spindle into position and lock in place.
330 Lathe Indicate the inside diameter of the tube as close as possible.
340 Lathe Set up tooling to turn a concentric bearing surface approx 3-4 inches from the right end of the tube.
350 Lathe Turn bearing surface just enough to clean up.
360 Lathe Face part to length.
370 Lathe Pull the tailstock back.
380 Lathe Run the saddle toward the tailstock to get it out of the way.
400 Lathe Position the steady rest at the bearing surface.
410 Lathe Bring the tailstock spindle back into position and lock in place.
420 Lathe Adjust the lower jaws of the steady rest to the bearing surface of the tubing and lock in place.
430 Lathe Bring the upper arm down and lock in place.
440 Lathe Adjust the upper jaw of the steady rest to the bearing surface of the tubing and lock in place.
450 Lathe Carefully remove the cat head.
460 Lathe Set up lathe for boring.
470 Instructor Have instructor check setup. *  
480 Lathe Bore to specifications.
490 Lathe Deburr machined end.
500 Instructor Turn in for grading *
