10 Instructor Secure stock from Instructor *  
20 Vertical Mill  Place stock on parallels in a vise so as to rough machine Datum side B.
30 Vertical Mill Set Rpm and Feed rate.
40 Vertical Mill Position cutter for facing cut.
50 Vertical Mill Lock the appropriate table locks and lock the quill.
70 Instructor Have instructor check setup. Be prepared to answer questions concerning RPM, feedrate, and machine operation. *  
80 Vertical Mill Take a trial roughing cut on the datum face B. Leave plenty of stock for finishing cuts.
90 Vertical Mill Deburr part and set up part for next cut according to the information sheet or textbook information on squaring a part.
100 Vertical Mill Take a trial roughing cut on surface C. Leave plenty of stock for finishing cuts.
110 Vertical Mill Use a solid square to check perpendicularity.
125 Instructor Have Instructor check the part for perpendicularity *  
120 Vertical Mill Turn the part and take the remaining 2 sides to size.
130 Vertical Mill Before doing the ends, indicate the solid jaw of the vise for squareness using the method found in your study materials.
140 Vertical Mill Have Instructor check your vise indication and vise alignment skill. Be prepared to answer questions about climb vs. conventional cutting directions. *  
150 Vertical Mill Take a clean up side milling cut on the datum face A. Leave plenty of stock for finishing cuts. Check the part for perpendicularity.
160 Vertical Mill Using the height gage and an angle plate layout the overall length of the part.
170 Vertical Mill Finish milling the part to length.
190 Bench Deburr and inspect part
200 Vertical Mill Follow the same procedure and machine part 2. This time work on maximizing your roughing cuts.
190 Bench Deburr and inspect part
200 Instructor Turn in both parts for grading *
