10 Instructor Secure stock from Instructor *  
20 Vertical Mill  Tram, square or align the head on the Vertical mill according to the information sheet or the textbook information.
30 Instructor Have Instructor check the squareness of the head. Be prepared to answer questions concerning how and why you square the toolhead. *  
35 Instructor Have instructor write the time in the box. Time
40 Vertical Mill Place stock on parallels in a vise so as to be able to rough machine Datum side AD.
50 Vertical Mill Set Rpm and Feed rate. Remember, this is 1045 steel.
60 Vertical Mill Position cutter for facing cut.
70 Vertical Mill Lock the appropriate table locks and lock the quill.
80 Vertical Mill Take a trial roughing cut on the datum face AD. Leave plenty of stock for finishing cuts.
90 Vertical Mill Deburr part and set up part for next cut according to the information sheet or textbook information on procedures for squaring a part.
100 Vertical Mill Take a trial roughing cut on datum surface C. Leave plenty of stock for finishing cuts.
110 Vertical Mill Use a solid square to check perpendicularity.
120 Vertical Mill Turn the part and take the remaining 2 sides to size.
130 Vertical Mill Before doing the slot, indicate the solid jaw of the vise for squareness using the method found in your study materials.
140 Vertical Mill Using the height gage and an angle plate, layout the slot on both sides of the part.
150 Instructor Using a piece of paper or an edge finder have instructor show you how to find the edge of the part and the slot location. Have instructor sign off. *  
160 Vertical Mill Cut the 0.50 slot with a 0.375 endmill on both sides.
170 Vertical Mill Lay the part down on Datum AD and cut the 0.51 X 0.11 step. Make sure you have clearance above the vise.
180 Vertical Mill Side mill datum surface B to clean up. Climb or conventional direction?
185 Layout Layout overall length.
190 Vertical Mill Machine part to 6.00 inch overall length.
200 Layout Layout the 0.50 Drilled holes.
210 Vertical Mill Set up a wiggler center finder. Have instructor show you how to find the center locations of the holes with the wiggler. Have instructor sign off. *  
220 Vertical Mill Drill Holes.
230 Bench Deburr and inspect part
235 Time Write the time in the box. Time
240 Vertical Mill Follow the same procedure and machine part number 2.
245 Time See how much time you can save doing this one. Put your start time in the box. Time
250 Time Put your Finish time in the box. Time
260 Instructor Turn in both parts for grading *
