10 Instructor Secure stock from Instructor *  
20 Vertical Mill  Set Rpm and Feed rate. Remember, this is 1045 steel.
30 Vertcal or Horizontal Milling Machine Square and size both blocks. Check for Paralell and perpendicularity after each cut.
40 Vertical Mill Set up a vise stop to tap drill the longest holes first.
50 Instructor Have instructor check your setup. Be prepared to answer questions on how you are going to use the vise stop for repeat positioning of the parts when drilling and tapping the holes. *  
60 Vertical Mill Check the vise for squareness using a dial indicator.
70 Vertical Mill Set up an edge finder and locate the drill position for the first hole.
80 Vertical Mill Center drill, pilot drill, and tap drill the longest holes first to avoid tool deflection at hole intersection points. Use plenty of coolant and stop to break the chip frequently.
90 Vertical Mill Set up the vertical mill to tap the first 1/2 - 13 hole. Check RPM for power tapping 1045 steel. Have Instructor check your setup and power tap the first two holes with you. *  
100 Vertical Mill Using the vise stop, Flip the part and tap the holes in the other end of the part.
110 Vertical Mill Repeat drilling, and tapping procedures for the long holes on block number 2. Think ahead about the best use of the vise stop.
120 Vertical Mill Repeat locating, drilling, and tapping procedures for the next longest holes for each block.
130 Vertical Mill Center drill, and tap drill the7/16-14 holes. Power tap the holes through.
140 Vertical Mill Set up to drill and Counter bore for the 7/16-14 Cap screws. Use the quill depth stop to set the depth for the counter bore. Think ahead about the best use of the vise stop. Watch your RPM setting when counter boring.
150 Vertical Mill Set up the mill for countersinking the holes. Use the quill depth stop to set the depth for the countersink. Think ahead about the best use of the vise stop.
160 Instructor Have Instructor check the setup.Be ready to answer questions concerning R.P.M. selection and locating the holes. *  
170 Vertical Mill Countersink the holes to depth on both blocks and all sides. Do the same holes on each block before resetting the quill depth stop.
180 Vertical Mill Set up the chamfer mill for doing the edges. Use the vise stop to enhance the speed of your setup. Chamfer mills run at 1/2 to 1/3 the RPM that an endmill of the same size would run at.
190 Vertical Mill Have Instructor check the setup. *  
200 Vertical Mill Locate the name slot using a piece of paper or an edge finder. Use your pocket rule to double check your location and cut the slot. Use the vise stop for repeating the name slot in the second part.
210 Bench Deburr and inspect part
220 Bench Stamp your Initials in the slot.
230 Instructor Turn in both parts for grading. *
